Murata acquires 3D silicon capacitor expertise

Murata Electronics Europe is buying 3D silicon capacitor specialist IPDiA. The move is said by Murata to enhance its position as a leading provider of high reliability capacitors.

French company IPDiA specialises in developing integrated passive devices, including 3D silicon capacitors for medical, industrial, communication and high reliability applications.

Franck Murray, IPDiA’s CEO, said: “IPDiA’s technology has enabled silicon passive components to be considered as a superior solution in specific markets where high performance and miniaturisation are required. We wish to benefit from Murata’s world recognized expertise and sales force to further expand our products and business.”

Toru Inoue, executive vice president of Murata’s components business unit, added: “Combining IPDiA’s 3D silicon capacitor technologies with Murata’s current technologies and product portfolio will enable us to expand our combined offering and meet our customers’ high reliability requirements, such as high temperature or high voltage, in automotive and other demanding markets.”
