MATLAB, Simulink ugprades bring better functionality

The MathWorks has unveiled Release 2010a of its MATLAB and Simulink product families. The release upgrades a number of features in the software packages, as well as adding streaming capabilities for signal processing and video processing in MATLAB and non linear solvers for standard and large scale optimisation.

According to the company, the upgrade reflects a continued focus on performance, including multicore support. There are also enhancement to more than 50 functions in the Image Processing Toolbox and the provision of additional multithreaded math functions in MATLAB. MATLAB also sees system objects using less memory and an improvement in the handling of lengthy signal and video data streams. The company also claims the development of streaming algorithms is simplified. Amongst improvements to Simulink are: code generation support for Eclipse, Embedded Linux and ARM processors; an IEC Certification Kit addressing ISO 26262; and a DO Qualification Kit.
