IoT pioneer Neul sold to Huawei

Huawei, which currently has offices in Ipswich and an R&D lab in Bristol, made the acquisition as part of a £1.3billion investment in the UK. Neul was first established in 2010 by a team of ex CSR staff. In February 2013 it unveiled Iceni, the first ever transceiver chip capable of tuning across the entire UHF tv white space spectrum (470 to 790MHz). Following the appointment of Stan Boland as CEO later that year, the company decided to shift its focus to the burgeoning IoT space. In January 2014, the company developed a two-way, wide area networking solution for the IoT called NeulNET. Based on the Weightless open standard, the platform is designed to provide superior coverage, battery life, module cost and simpler operation compared to GPRS, 3G, CDMA and LTE WAN solutions. Neither company has made a comment about the acquisition.
