Intersil taps analogue expertise for power management upgrade

1 min read

In a move which takes advantage of its precision analogue expertise, Intersil has upgraded its power management portfolio with the launch of the ISL2802x family.

There are three products in the range. The ISL28023 is a full featured PMBus compatible digital power monitor that integrates analogue comparators, a voltage regulator, a D/A converter and a low voltage auxiliary channel. Also features is a temperature sensor. The ISL28025 is a high precision digital power monitor with integrated analogue comparators and an integrated voltage regulator. The analogue comparators in both devices allow for continuous input monitoring and a response time of 500ns. Meanwhile, the ISL28022 is an efficient digital power monitor targeted at cost constrained application, producing a serial digital output suitable for feeding directly into an FPGA or MCU. Product marketing manager Paul Lee said the devices would find use in such applications as monitoring battery life in portable products and helping designers to meet power efficiency goals. All members are said to deliver high accuracy measurements through an integrated 16bit native resolution sigma-delta A/D converter with an input common mode voltage range of 0 to 60V.
