Imagination partners with Blu Wireless on 60GHz IP

Bristol-based start up Blu Wireless is working with Imagination Technologies to advance 60GHz system IP for WiGig and backhaul markets.

The company's HYDRA baseband technology has been combined with Imagination's MIPS Aptiv processors to create a heterogeneous multiprocessing architecture targeting the burgeoning 60GHz space. "MIPS microAptiv provides a compelling combination of co-processor support, multicore debug and mature software tools for our HYDRA architecture," said Blu Wireless ceo Mark Barrett. The architecture combines mixing fixed function dsp blocks in a parallel vector data plane. Barrett says it provides a mature software development platform for the control plane, delivering configurable co-processor instructions deep into the HYDRA baseband data plane. "This combination of multicore MIPS and HYDRA vector dsp provides a mature software development, debugging and traceability of dataflow in the high speed data plane," he concluded.
