HSPA+ gives 21Mbit/s
Vodafone has demonstrated mobile broadband download rates of up to 16Mbit/s during trials of HSPA+ 64QAM on its Spanish network.
Vodafone now plans to trial mobile broadband data connections with peak rates of up to 21Mbit/s this year. Using HSPA+ MIMO functionality, Vodafone believes the technology could deliver a typical video download at 13Mbit/s in ‘good’ conditions and at more than 4Mbit/s across a full range of typical cell locations.
HSPA+ increases performance through the use of the 64QAM modulation technique. But using the technology will need new devices to be developed and Vodafone is currently working on these with its partners.
