Adlink Technology has introduced what it claims to be the fastest SATA 6Gb/s industrial grade solid state drives (SSDs). The company's ASD series is designed for mission critical applications in severe environments and, according to Adlink, reduces time to market.

The devices provide a SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA III) interface to match the data transfer capabilities of 2nd generation Intel Core processor based platforms and, says Adlink, have the fastest read/write speeds available on the industrial market. The SSDs feature less than 1ms access time, power consumption as low as 2W and high capacity. Available in 2.5, 1.8in and JEDEC MO-297 (half slim) form factors, potential markets include defence, telecom, transportation, industrial automation and medical applications. The series supports an operating temperature range from -40 to 85°C and is resistant to high levels of shock (1,500G/0.5msec) and vibration 3.08G (7-800Hz). The SSDs implement wear leveling and hardware ECC, which, according to the company, result in years of reliable operation with minimal maintenance and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of up to 2million hours. The series offers high speed performance of up to 470MB/s sequential read and 385MB/s sequential write speed (2.5in 128GB SLC). Stephen Huang, vice president of the Industrial Computing Product Segment of Adlink, said: "The Adlink industrial grade ASD SSD Series provides customers with the high data transfer rates of the SATA 6 Gb/s interface, high reliability and long product life in an industrial grade storage solution. Our new line of industrial grade SSDs meets the requirements of transportation, avionics, factory floor, and other rugged applications with extended temperature requirements."
