Element Materials Technology (Element) has today announced a significant investment at its European Radio and Telecommunications Testing Center of Technical Excellence in Hull, UK to increase its radio testing capacity by more than one third.

The company specialises in providing a comprehensive range of materials and product qualification testing, inspection and certification services for the aerospace; transportation; fire & building products; oil & gas and infrastructure sectors.

The investment is intended to meet the growing demand in radio testing for wireless products that customers are experiencing. Element Hull has expanded its facilities with an additional radio frequency testing semi-anechoic chamber. The increase in capacity will help to reduce lead and test times for customers, ensuring that they can take their products to market faster, saving them time and money.

According to Rick Sluiters, EVP Aerospace, ‘’As technology advances, more and more products are being fitted with wireless technology and this investment is in direct response to the bottleneck that the market is experiencing to test wireless functionality.

For many of our customers radio testing comes at the very end of the development cycle, so the faster we can test their products, the quicker they can get them to market and start generating revenue.’’

Element Hull specialises in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio, safety, telecommunications and ZigBee testing. It works with manufacturers to help them comply with the global market regulations for their products and meet the evolving demands of product approvals.

The laboratory is UKAS accredited to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005, a Notified Body for the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), a Telecommunication Certification Body for the US (FCC), a Foreign Certification Body for Canada (ISED) and a Conformity Assessment Body for Japan (MIC).
