Analog Devices makes GaAs and GaN technology acquisition

In a move which allows it to offer all components in the next generation cable access network signal chain, Analog Devices has bought OneTree Microdevices. According to Analog, OneTree’s GaAs and GaN amplifier portfolio offers best-in-class linearity, output power and efficiency.

“Analog, in combination with OneTree, is positioned to solve the bandwidth and power efficiency challenges facing cable operators today in their efforts to increase broadband internet services for homes and businesses,” said Greg Henderson, vice president of Analog’s RF and Microwave business. “OneTree’s expertise aligns with Analog’s strategic focus on GaN technology and extends it portfolio of RF and microwave signal chain solutions for infrastructure, defence and instrumentation markets.”

OneTree cofounder Chris Day added: “Analog and OneTree are directly engaged with customers, cable operators and industry standards groups to drive cable standards discussions. Together, we will be able to effectively assist cable operators in their quest to provide compelling cost and data rates to home and business users.”
