All flash enterprise storage is 10x faster than disk centric arrays

1 min read

Silicon valley start up Pure Storage has emerged from stealth mode to deliver its first ever product, the FA-300 all flash enterprise storage array.

The company, which was founded by veterans of Veritas and Yahoo! in 2009, claims the device is 10x faster and 10x more space and power efficient, at a lower per gigabyte price than disk centric arrays, including performance disk, flash retrofits and flash/disk hybrids. The Pure Storage FlashArray is plug compatible with existing virtualisation, database and cloud oriented infrastructures and is said to deliver the mission critical reliability of a true enterprise array. The firm was recently awarded $30million in a Series C funding round led by Samsung Semiconductor, bringing the total amount raised to $55million. "Customers are currently spending about $20billion per year on performance disk storage and they ought to be getting more for their money," said Scott Dietzen, ceo of Pure Storage. "By breaking the cost barrier to mainstream data center adoption of flash, we are serving the market's interests far more effectively than disk centric alternatives are capable of doing."
