3D photonics specialist gets £1.2m

Optoscribe, founded in 2010 as a spin out from Heriot Watt University, has received £1.2million in investment from Archangels, Par Equity, and Scottish Investment Bank.

The company has developed 3D photonic components that allow optical fibres to be connected with arrays of emitters or receivers where space is limited and high bandwidth connectivity is essential.

According to Nicholas Psaila, CEO: “This investment round will enable a significant transformation of Optoscribe, allowing the company to substantially increase its capabilities through hiring further experienced staff and an expansion to its manufacturing facilities. The investment is a tremendous boost to the company and we are excited to be embarking on a new phase of growth.”

The newly invested funds will also allow Optoscribe to scale its business, with a particular focus on the FCX product line, which is targeted at the data communications market.
