Workshop: Improving Performance in Service with Nanocomposites

1 min read

Taking place at NetComposites' offices, Chesterfield.

Nano materials and technologies in a wide range of fields (eg materials, biology, electronics, etc) have been studied and developed intensively in the past years. Polymer nanocomposites, nano materials incorporated into a resin are gaining acceptance in the mainstream of plastics, although few commercial materials are already available in the market. Emerging nanocomposite technologies could indeed be the "superstar" of the plastics industry through the next few decades. They offer tremendous opportunities in a very broad range of markets through significant enhancement of composites performances. Potential benefits of nanocomposites include higher heat resistance, increased stiffness, lower permeation rate, easy flow characteristics, dimensional stability, good appearance and lower heat release rate during combustion. Aim of the Workshop The aim of this workshop is to showcase new developments in nanocomposite technology identify key advances, and highlight technology gaps that require further research investment. Opportunities for technology transfer between application sectors will also be explored. The workshop will be of interest to those involved in nanocomposite research, manufacturers, component designers and end user clients who could benefit from the advantages to be gained by using these materials. Call for Papers Papers are invited on the subject of nanocomposite materials. Themes include: • Material developments • Processing innovation • Structural Properties • New Applications • Markets and opportunities Please send a short abstract (250 words max) to claire.whysall@netcomposites.com outlining the key aspects of your presentation. There will be no requirement to prepare a full paper. Presentations (if accepted) should be given in PowerPoint and each timeslot will be 30 minutes. Abstracts should be submitted by 31st May 2011. Venue The event will take place at the NetComposites offices in Chesterfield, UK at the address below.
