Military and Defence solutions from Pacer

Military and Defence solutions from Pacer include IP54 rated Ultra Rugged tablet PCs designed for use in harsh environments, high reliability COTS components, fast uncooled MWIR detectors for use in Passive Infrared Cueing Systems (PICS), and the TacticID® field-ready handheld spectral analysis instrument specifically designed to enable real-time actionable identification of potential threats such as explosives, chemical warfare agents and toxic chemicals.

Winmate Ultra Rugged tablet PCs are designed for use in harsh environments. Their IP54 rating ensures resistance to water and dust ingress; the tablets can operate between -20°C and 60°C, and are compliant with the MIL-STD-810F requirements for drop, vibration, and temperature. Sizes range from 5.6" to 12.1" and the tablets offer touch screen operation, sunlight readability and excellent wireless connectivity. The BWTek TacticID® is a field-ready handheld spectral analysis instrument specifically designed to enable forensic analysis of unknown chemicals by first responders. Utilising Raman spectroscopy, it enables real-time actionable identification of potential threats. TacticID® comes standard with a comprehensive library of > 5,000 chemicals including explosives, narcotics, precursors, cutting agents, chemical warfare agents and toxic chemicals. Users can also develop their own custom libraries. Passive Infrared Cueing Systems (PICS) pose challenging performance requirements for the IR detectors they use. As well as the obvious need to be affordable and rugged, they require high frame rate, high MWIR sensitivity, spectral capability and wide field of view. Very few technologies meet these requirements. NIT use polycrystalline PbSe to manufacture fast, uncooled focal plane arrays capable of the performance standards demanded by PICS (a key element in land and aerial Active Protection Systems) and other applications including muzzle flash and explosion detection, laser detection systems and missile seekers. The Pacer Design Centre in Weymouth provides design, customisation, prototyping, test and manufacturing services for optoelectronic projects. All of the following can be incorporated into the development of your product: • Wafer fabrication • Chip-on-board assembly • LED die selection • Fibre optic packaging and pigtailing • Hybrid assembly • Hi-rel capability – screening, burn-in, environmental test
