Dave Honess, Educational resource engineer at Raspberry Pi will lead the keynote session on day two of the Electronics Design Show. He will be speaking from Thursday 20th October at 9.15am in the New Electronics Conference on the subject of ‘Pi in Space: Tim Peake’s journey to the ISS and the Raspberry Pi he took with him’.
As part of Tim Peake's historic Principia mission two Raspberry Pi computers were qualified for space-flight, programmed by school students and launched to the International Space Station. Tim Peake used the computers to execute the student’s experiments and subsequently returned their results to them. This session explains how this was achieved and what the outcomes were.
Delegates will learn about how Astro Pi was started and how to qualify small payloads for the ISS. Dave will go into detail about what student experiments were run in space and the results obtained. Dave will also look at future plans for Astro Pi.
