World's first 4-ball WLCSP EEPROM with multiple I2C addresses

STMicroelectronics has extended its M24 serial EEPROM family with four devices that are compatible with the industry-standard 4-ball WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) footprint. The new additions are also claimed to connect two or more 4-pin EEPROMs to the same I2C bus with an individual I2C address hard-wired internally, an industry first. This allows dedicated devices for specific purposes, such as front/rear camera modules, on the same bus.

The M24 series is available with operating voltages from 5.5 to 1.7V and operate across temperature ranges from -40 to 85, 105, 125, and 145°C. The chips come in SO8N, TSSOP, leadless UFDFPN5 and 8, ultrathin WLCSP packages.

The devices meet designers’ needs for multiple sourcing by offering the same pitch, die orientation, and pin assignment as competitive products while allowing a choice of I2C slave addresses. The M24 serial EEPROMs maintain the performance features of the existing devices, including 4million erase/write cycles and 200 years data retention.
