Synchronous buck switching regulator delivers 2A

The ISL8002B synchronous buck switching regulator from Intersil delivers up to 2A from a 2.7V to 5.5V input supply. Switching at 2MHz is said to provide better transient response, whilst features such as programmable soft start and output tracking and sequencing of programmable devices increase system reliability for point of load conversion.

Integrating high side PMOS and low side NMOS MOSFETs, the device is said to eliminate the need for a bootstrap capacitor and diode. High efficiency allows the use of small inductors to reduce board space requirements.

Supplied in a 2 x 2mm package, the device has a peak efficiency of 95% and comes with under voltage lockout and over voltage, over current and short circuit protection. Users can also select PFM or PWM operation.
