Switching regulator cuts EMI/EMC emissions by 20dB

Targeted at automotive and industrial applications, the LT8614 from Linear Technology is a 4A synchronous step down switching regulator that requires only 2.5µA of quiescent current.

Offering up to 96% efficiency, the device features a Silent Switcher architecture which is said to lower EMI/EMC emissions by more than 20dB. Its internal switches can deliver up to 4A of continuous output current to voltages as low as 0.97V, while its Burst Mode operation provides ultra low quiescent current. The LT8614 maintains a minimum dropout voltage of 200mV at 1A under all conditions. Furthermore, a fast minimum on time of only 30ns enables 2MHz constant frequency switching from a 16V input to a 1V output, enabling designers to optimise efficiency while avoiding critical noise sensitive frequency bands.
