Set top box tester gives greater control

RedRat is launching the latest version of its set top box testing and control product, the irNetBox. The device is designed to give set top box manufacturers greater control over stress testing processes and simplify installation and use.

The irNetBox - MK-IV features a built-in OLED display and navigation panel to simplify its installation and management on customer networks. The display can also be configured to display client-specific testing information, such as the type, frequency or duration of tests being conducted.

Other features include a real-time clock, Power over Ethernet support and extended API capabilities. There is also an expansion header to accommodate RedRat’s recently developed RF modules which are said to facilitate mixed infrared and RF control in environments with heterogeneous groups of set top boxes.

The irNetBox – MK-IV is claimed to be fully compatible with all other RedRat products including the latest version of Test Manager, a software tool developed specifically for DTV testing processes, with enhanced Python-based scripting.
