SensorTag development kit connects sensors to the Cloud in minutes

Mouser is stocking the CC2650STK SimpleLink multi-standard SensorTag development kit from Texas Instruments (TI). The SensorTag is equipped with a SimpleLink CC2650 ultra-low power wireless microcontroller, featuring a 48MHz ARM Cortex-M3 core paired with a 2.4GHz RF transceiver compatible with Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN and other IEEE 802.15.4 protocols.

This wireless microcontroller platform is said to consume 75% less power than previous Bluetooth Smart products, along with a low active RF and run current requirements. SensorTag application technology enables developers to get sensor data online and up to the cloud in less than three minutes.

Developers can change between different 2.4GHz technologies by loading new software images directly from the SensorTag app. The kit includes 10 on-board low-power sensors, including a nine-axis motion sensor, altimeter/pressure sensor, digital microphone and magnet sensor plus support for other low-power sensors.

The CC2650STK allows development for a range of IoT and energy harvesting applications within the wireless, medical, consumer electronics, hobbyist, portable device and sensing and instrumentation markets.
