MCU has built in memory LCD controller

Seiko Epson is sampling the S1C31D01, an energy efficient 32bit microcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M0+ core. According to the company, the S1C31D01 is the first MCU to have a built in memory LCD controller.

With 256k of flash and 96kbyte of RAM, the part also features a 512byte instruction cache. Operating from a supply in the range of 1.8 to 5.5V, the device is said to consume 250µA/MHz in typical applications.

The S1C31D01 also integrates peripheral circuits, including a real-time clock, a USB controller and a 12bit SAR A/D converter with seven channels.

Epson has designed the S1C31D01 to include a new memory LCD controller, as well as a power supply IC that can output two voltages – 2.7 to 3.4V or 4.4 to 5.05V – and a 6bit parallel interface.

Volume production is planned to start in April 2017.
