Low power current monitors
With an operating current of 3µA, the ZXCT11xx series of low power high side current monitors from Diodes Incorporated is designed to provide accurate, high efficiency measurement of load current in motor drive, overload protection and safety applications.
Coupled with low operating current performance, the devices' wide common mode voltage range of between 2.5 to 36V and extended -40 to 125ºC temperature range are said to make them well suited to higher supply voltage for automotive, industrial and white goods circuit design.
The units require only one single external gain setting resistor in addition to a low value sense resistor. According to the company, the monitors are simple to use, keep component count to a minimum and save space. Sensing current on the high side has also been implemented to avoid any ground plane disruption.
