Linear unveils 200mA synchronous buck boost dc/dc converter

Linear Technology's new synchronous buck boost converter, the LTC2129, is designed to deliver up to 200mA of continuous output current and a quiescent current of only 1.3µA.

The device has an input range of 2.42 to 15V and an output range of 1.4 to 15.75V. It incorporates a low noise buck boost topology to provide a continuous transition through all of the operating modes, making it suitable for applications that have to maintain a constant output voltage. Additional features include programmable maximum power point control capability, which ensures maximum power extraction from non ideal power sources such as photovoltaic cells. The LTC3129 also includes four internal low RDSON N channel mosfets to deliver efficiencies of up to 95%. User selectable Burst Mode operation is said to lower quiescent current to only 1.3µA, improving light load efficiency and extending battery run time.
