‘Intelligent’ display reduces development time

Electronic Assembly has developed a new tft graphic display, which it claims has built in intelligence.

The eDIPTFT32-A is designed to dramtically reduce development time and offers a range of graphics functions. These can be directly accessed without having to program at the pixel level. Eight predefined fonts are included that can be accurately positioned and adapted to meet individual needs. Up to 256 fonts can be stored in the integrated flash memory. All of which can be scaled as required and rotated in 90 degree increments. The 4MB memory can also store images, animations and macros. A series of geometric functions have been integrated for displaying bar graphs, frames, and switches. Analogue rotary and pointer instruments can be visualised using a free application called 'LCD Tools'. The display unit features two analogue inputs for this purpose. According to EA, the optional variant with touch panel makes it possible to operate the display using graphic controls. Up to 40 buttons, switches, or bar graphs can be defined and changed by software, depending on the situation. Measuring 3.2in wide, the display supports 65,536 colours and has a resolution of 320 x 240. Images and texts can be mixed as desired. The device's led background illumination is set via software and the display units provide three different interfaces; – RS 232, I2C bus, and SPI bus. The display is designed for use in an enhanced temperature range of -20 to 70°C.
