Image recognition processor enables small driver assistance systems

Toshiba is expanding its line up of image recognition processors series with the launch of the TMPV7502XBG.

The device is designed for small size camera modules. It comes in a package measuring only 11 x 11mm and offers low power consumption of just 0.6W (Typ.). The TMPV7502XBG can be used in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that recognise lanes, road signs, vehicles and pedestrians from images collected by cameras positioned around the car and in electronic side mirrors. The processor features Toshiba's 32bit RISC CPU MeP and two Toshiba multicore MPEs. It also incorporates 1channel video input interface and optimised circuit configuration to enable the detection of multiple vehicles, signs and people. This is made possible by the incorporation of CoHOG hardware detection technology and four image processing accelerators. Samples of the TMPV7502XBG are now being shipped, with mass production scheduled for November.
