Farnell unveils support for designers

Farnell showcased a range of new services for design engineers at this year's Embedded World.

Farnell launched a Raspberry Pi expansion board with a mobile platform for end to end IoT development and deployment. The GraspIO Cloudio is designed to enable prototyping and play with drag and drop programming mobile app, IoT Cloud, voice assistant capabilities, IFTTT integration and sensor monitoring.

Cloudio unlocks physical computing applications with Raspberry Pi through a ‘feature-packed’ board that now includes a 0.96-inch OLED display, IR sensor, light sensor, temperature sensor, tactile switch, three ADC ports, a mini servomotor port for external sensors, three digital output ports, an RGB LED, and a buzzer.

Farnell said that it was helping start-ups and makers by offering them support, expertise and resources to take their products to market.

These ‘Maker to Market’ services are supported by Design & Manufacturing Services and designed to offer support from design through to manufacture. This includes customisation for larger scale projects or manufacturing volumes.

Farnell said that it was now stocking over 2,500 embedded development kits and accessories for same day dispatch.

Customers can access daughter boards and modules, primary platform development kits, single board computers and development kit accessories, such as adaptors, circuit racks, enclosures and sensor kits, for quick dispatch service.
