EDLC supercapacitors target extended temperature applications

The DMG supercapacitors are designed to provide high power backup and achieve high reliability with a five year life span at 70°C, which makes them suitable for enterprise solid state drive manufacturers and telecom applications. With an operating temperature range of -30 to 85°C, the series is also suitable for smart meters. The series is available in 2.1V single cell and 4.2V double cell options. The 2.1V device provides a nominal capacity of 700mF, a profile of 1.4mm and a 70mO ESR at 1kHz, while the 4.2V device offers 350mF at 2.8mm thickness and 130mO ESR at 1kHz. The DMG EDLC is based on active carbon technology which leads to the longer life cycle. The capacitance is directly related to the surface area of the active carbon, giving the DMG series high capacitance values in a low profile design measuring 20.5 x 18.5 x 1.4mm.
