Digi-Key adds KiCad PCB model download

KiCad open source EDA software has been added to Digi-Key’s list of EDA model output formats for schematic symbols and PCB footprints covering 1million in-stock Digi-Key parts.

“One added value we provide our customers is the ability to download EDA and CAD models for many of the parts we sell,” said Jeremy Purcell, program manager of digital design tools, design support at Digi-Key. “We’ve recently seen an increase in the number of requests for KiCad model support, so we worked with our model partner to add KiCad support to Ultra Librarian.”

The company’s interface to Ultra Librarian is said to offer an easy download of library components in 24 CAD formats supporting most EDA and CAD toolsets now including KiCad. Customers can verify the Digi-Key and manufacturer’s part number, preview the graphics for the models, choose the output formats, and download up to 15 parts per month.
