Chronometer grade timekeeping claimed for MEMS TCXO

MEMS timing pioneer SiTime has launched the SiT156x/7x families of 32kHz Super-TCXOs. Available in a package with a footprint of 1.2mm sq, the devices are said to require up to 85% less board space than quartz products.

Piyush Sevalia, executive vice president of marketing at SiTime, said: “The SiT156x/7x 32 kHz Super-TCXOs enable our customers to develop game changing electronics with the smallest size, best timekeeping and the longest battery life.”

Additionally, by using SiTime’s TempFlat MEMS technology, the devices deliver an accuracy of ±5 ppm, said by the company to enable chronometer grade timekeeping.

The SiT1568 offers an in system auto calibration feature that allows customers to eliminate timing inaccuracies introduced during system assembly, reflow, underfill and overmoulding. According to the company, those designing of wearable, IoT and mobile applications, can use these features to offer the best timekeeping and longest battery life.

The SiT1566, SiT1568, and SiT1576 Super-TCXOs are available in a 1.5 x 0.8 x 0.6mm chip scale package. Each features a reference for real time clock functionality, a sleep clock for connectivity, and a reference for an audio subsystem.
