Bridge driver IC features 'industry’s fastest' rise and fall times

Intersil has introduced a low noise, 80V, 0.5A three phase bridge driver IC with low EMI and the 'industry's fastest' rise and fall times.

The HIP4086A is optimised to reduce switching losses and simplify the development of flexible bridge based pwm motor control designs. Based on the company's HIP4086 N channel mosfet driver IC, it integrates three half bridge gate drivers in one package and is being offered as an alternative to larger discrete circuits. The new module drives 1000pF loads, providing high efficiency and high frequency operation. It has a programmable dead time of 0.25 to 4.5ms, which is said to avoid cross conduction or 'shoot through' current, helping to reduce EMI. Rise time is rated at 50ns (maximum over temperature). According to Intersil, the six N channel mosfet drivers can be driven independently so users can configure any switch combination and use the HIP4086A either in brushless dc or switched reluctance motors. Other configurable features include programmable uvlo, bootstrap refresh, an optional charge pump, (available in the HIP4086ABZ and HIP4086APZ versions) and a disable input override feature. The HIP4086A is designed for battery powered tools, light electric vehicles and consumer products.
