With power factor correction and efficiencies of up to 93%, the modules are said to have a power density of 8W/cm3.
Only 9mm thick – 20% that of a traditional 1U package – the modules can be mounted on an equipment side panel, chassis or heat sinking device. Vicor says that moving the AC/DC conversion function to a chassis or side panel can reduce system size and cost, free space for other uses and improve thermal performance.
The units are suited for use in a range of applications, including process control, telecommunications, office equipment, test and measurement and LED lighting.
