V2X collaboration to speed time to market

u blox, Commsignia and NXP have announced a collaboration designed to address growing demand for reliable V2V and V2I technology. The collaboration, building on company’s strengths, is looking to deliver ‘future-proof’ solutions and to accelerate the adoption of V2X technology.

“This collaboration focuses on delivering production-ready V2V and V2I,” said Costas Meimetis, u-blox’ director of product strategy for short range radio.

According to the partners, IEEE802.11p is the only proven and production ready technology that can reliably ‘see around corners’. However, they say 802.11p is ‘complementary’ to 5G versions of V2X and note that both approaches are likely to coexist for the ‘foreseeable future’.

Jozsef Kovacs, Commsignia’s CEO, added: “Automotive manufacturers can benefit from the enhanced performance of a secure and fully integrated solution to implement V2X technology in new vehicle designs, so taking the next step towards improving the safety and efficiency of our roads.”
