Bedford based contract electronics manufacturer, Briton EMS has been awarded a £1million contract by MPEC Technology to complete the build of its industrial data acquisition units.

The units, designed by MPEC, are optimised to provide robust condition monitoring and predictive analysis of trackside infrastructure to alert rail operators to the condition of their assets. "The SA380TX can be thought of as a ruggedised remote control oscilloscope that will connect any type of trackside sensor to the Network Rail intelligent infrastructure system," said Andy Whawell, MPEC's managing director. "It can capture data from track circuits, points and rail temperature, monitor both cut track section and insulation and be used for special faults investigation. It is a very valuable addition to the rail industry's armoury." "Naturally, we're delighted to have won the contract," added Tony Abri, commercial director of Briton EMS. "The SA380TX is a complex product and having been closely involved in its test development, we're now procuring all parts and have set up a manufacturing cell. This enables us to guarantee that MPEC will receive fully working and configured products."
