Toshiba to demo new TransferJet technology at IFA 2012

Visitors at IFA 2012 will see new demonstrations of Toshiba's semiconductor technology for TransferJet wireless data transfer in computers, tablets, televisions and cameras.

On show will be a 'proof of concept' wireless SSD and two Android tablets incorporating Toshiba´s microSD and SD cards with integrated TransferJet capabilities. The wireless SSD concept will demonstrate how TransferJet can provide a wireless link for bulk data transfer and streaming to/from a portable, battery powered SSD drive and a pc. The tablet demonstration will show how microSD cards and SD cards with integrated TransferJet capabilities can be used for wire free 'touch and get' transfers. The demonstrations have been built around Toshiba's TransferJet Consortium qualified wireless ic TC35420, which the company says incorporates all the necessary signal processing and rf circuitry for a TransferJet compliant wireless communications link. TransferJet features transmission speeds of up to 560Mpbs over air when devices are in close proximity. For more about this technology, click here.
