TI shipping dual mode wireless power receiver
Now shipping in volume production, Texas Instrument's dual mode wireless power receiver is claimed to be the first to support both the WPC Qi 1.1 and PMA specifications.
The 5W bq51221 offers a programmable output and is said to reduce power loss by as much as 50% compared to existing receiver solutions, paving the way for faster and more efficient charging.
Available in a 6 x 2.9 x 0.5mm single chip package, the device offers 96% efficiency and a solution size of 75mm2 without the need for an inductor.
Qi-only versions of the bq51221 are currently sampling to select customers, and are expected to be available in volume production in Q2.
