TI debuts low power, low noise op amps

Texas Instruments has introduced two new bipolar input audio operational amplifiers, which it claims offer unmatched noise, distortion, bandwidth and low power consumption.

The dual channel OPA1662 and quad channel OPA1664 are targeted at next generation professional audio equipment, such as usb and FireWire audio systems, analogue and digital mixers and portable recording systems. The devices have a quiescent current of 1.5mA per channel, a noise density of 3.3nV/vHz and a total harmonic distortion plus noise of 0.00006% at 1kHz. Gain bandwidth is rated at 22MHz, while slew rate is offered at 17V/us. In addition, the devices have an operating range of +/-1.5 to +/-18V or 3 to 36V. According to TI, system designers can build an audio signal path by combining the OPA1662 or OPA1664 with the PCM1792A 24bit, 192kHz sampling, stereo audio d/a converter.
