TI creates its own IoT ecosystem

Texas Instruments has built an ecosystem for the Internet of Things (IoT) to help manufacturers link together devices and services from different companies.

The first members are ARM, IBM, 2lemetry, Arrayent, Exosite, Spark, Xively and Thingsquare. The idea is that if a company buys chips from TI, they'll work with software, hardware and cloud offerings from the above vendors. "The cloud ecosystem allows TI customers to find the best cloud service provider to meet their individual needs and get the most out of their TI based IoT solutions," said the company in a statement. Members of the cloud club will be able to benefit from a range of services to meet the growing needs of the IoT, including integration of data into business processes, data analytics, customisable user portals and smartphone apps, and compatibility with multiple wireless technologies. Adam Gould, vice president of IOTBU at ARM, commented: "At ARM, we believe that the IoT will transform every business model on the planet. TI's cloud ecosystem will accelerate that transformation with ARM Sensinode software, securely connecting billions of gateways and sensors to cloud platforms."
