TI adds four models to the ARM9 based Sitara mpu range

Looking to respond to demand for flexible architectures to support multiple industry specific peripherals and interfaces, Texas Instruments has added four devices to its Sitara range of ARM9 based microprocessors.

The four parts feature a serial ATA interface, universal parallel port and TI's Programmable Real time Unit (PRU). The PRU offers flexible and configurable I/O control, enabling developers to extend peripheral capabilities and add custom interfaces to their designs. Available in 375 and 450MHz variants, the Sitara additions – the AM1808, 1806, 1707 and 1705 – offer pin to pin compatibility with OMAP-L1x processors, allowing applications to be scaled up to take advantage of OMAP's additional capabilities, or OMAP apps to be scaled down. Applications for the parts are said to range from smart metering and point of service to industrial and home automation.
