Switching regulator features conversion efficiency of 93%

Designed to provide greater design flexibility and configurability than competing devices, ADI's new 3A dual output dc/dc regulator features a conversion efficiency of more than 93% and enables six output rails in an evenly phase shifted topology.

The ADP2323 offers an input voltage supply range of between 4.5 and 20V and an output range of 0.6 to 18V at 1.5% voltage accuracy. According to the company, it can be easily configured to synchronise in an evenly phase shifted topology or for dual output (2 x 3A) or single interleaved output (up to 6A). The regulator is designed to provide accurate tracking capability between supplies and includes precision enable input, voltage tracking input and power good features. Its switching frequency can be programmed between 250kHz to 1.2MHz or synchronised to an external clock to minimise interference in multi rail applications. Both output channels run 180 degrees out of phase and can be synchronised to eliminate beat frequencies between regulators to minimise system noise. "For power designers who need higher efficiency, more design flexibility and configurability for multi rail applications, the ADP2323 surpasses other available dc/dc regulators," claimed Evaldo Miranda, product line director, Power Management products group, Analog Devices. "Unlike other regulators, the ADP2323 enables six output rails in an evenly phase shifted topology, minimising input current ripple and system interference as well as a power saving mode and current sharing for higher output current capability." The ADP2323 operates over the -40 to 125 °C temperature range and is available in a 5 x 5 mm QFN-32 lead package.
