Sharp announces compact high power LEDs for MiniZeni range

Sharp has developed six high power led modules for its MiniZeni range. The modules are 15 x 12 x 1.6mm in size and are said to be suitable for numerous applications, such as office, commercial, street, architectural, and display lighting.

The devices are available in a 6.7 and 3.6W series. Depending on the module, the LEDs have a light output of up to 410 lm, and a CRI value of at least 87 at all colour temperatures. The components include individual blue LEDs coated with phosphorous, that are interconnected in a matrix and installed on a ceramic plate. The 6.7W led matrix consists of 45 LEDs arranged in a 15 parallel switched series of threes and reportedly achieves a luminous flux of 355 to 410lm. The matrix of the 3.6W module consists of 24 LEDs arranged in an eight parallel switched series of three and achieves a luminous flux of up to 230lm. According to Sharp, the ceramic carrier material has a high surface quality, resulting in low surface roughness. They claim that this simplifies connection to the cooling element, making it as seamless as possible and creating good heat dissipation.
