RRAM based low power serial EEPROMs offer security features

Serial EEPROMs from Adesto Technologies are said to offer low-power operation, excellent endurance and features to enable better security in battery and low power devices for IoT and other connected applications.

“Our leadership in resistive RAM technology is demonstrated by our Mavriq DS Series,” said Narbeh Derhacobian, pictured, Adesto’s CEO. “The latest addition to our conductive bridging RAM (CBRAM) based products offers extended write endurance, as well as ultra low power and security features targeting IoT applications.”

Devices in the Mavriq DS series are said to use four times less power during read and write operations than competitive solutions, and, in ultra-deep power down mode, to use up to 50 times less power. The parts can enter an ultra-deep power down mode following write operations, reducing controller operations and overall system energy.

Security features designed into Mavriq DS products help protect against data tampering, including two 64byte one time programmable security registers. Located outside of the memory map, these registers can only be accessed through control codes. One register is available for user programming, while the other is preprogrammed by Adesto with a unique identification number. Together, the two registers allow for the use of one-time programmed serial numbers for authentication and provide an additional means for device traceability.
