QNX looks for EAL4+ grading for Neutrino

QNX has submitted its Neutrino rtos for evaluation under Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ (EAL4+) of the Common Criteria certification.

According to the company, the Target of Evaluation that it has submitted goes beyond the scope of registered offerings from other OS vendors. Claiming an embedded industry first, QNX says it will certify not only its mature OS kernel, but also its multicore and secure partitioning solutions. “Security is a key priority for our customers and our registration for Common Criteria certification demonstrates our commitment to deliver secure, reliable and standards based products,” said Dan Dodge, QNX’ president and cto. “Including multicore and partitioning capabilities in our EAL certification program is a further testament to delivering products that meet tomorrow’s design challenges for many segments of the embedded computing market.” The certification program follows the recent announcement that Neutrino has received Posix certification from the Open Group according to the IEEE POSIX PSE52 Realtime Controller 1003.13-2003 System product standard. This certification confirms that Neutrino delivers the predictable response times demanded by time critical applications.
