Plexus to offer stress screening at Kelso site

As part of its continued programme of growth within EMEA, Plexus is investing in a dedicated building and equipment to undertake environmental stress screening (ESS) at its Kelso site in Scotland. According to the company, the new facility will service customers in the defence, security and aerospace sectors, as well as oil and gas.

The facility is being created to meet specialist ESS needs with a focus on thermal, vibration and highly accelerated stress screening and highly accelerated life testing (HALT/HASS).

“With today’s need for increased security in these sensitive sectors, we have taken the decision to bring ESS testing within our own control,” said Frank Zycinski, Plexus’ VP market sector and operations, EMEA. “This means we can deliver a full service to our customers and guarantee enhanced security for their IP.”

The move involves an investment of $500,000 in specialist equipment as well as the hiring of ESS professionals, who will also provide training for existing test engineers and operators.

The new facility is planned to open in September.
