Plextek provides resources for new system designs group

Cambridge design house, Plextek, has announced the formation of a new system level design group which it says will provide solutions and a route to knowledge, technical skills and expertise.

According to Plextek, the Systems Group will consult with potential customers during the initial sales process to identify where it can offer support and solutions based on its experience in hardware, software and strategic consulting. Another facet will be to access the library of intellectual property that Plextek has amassed over the years and look at ways in which it can be utilised to create different business solutions. Dr Paul Martin, pictured, who is heading up the Systems Group, has spent the last seven years working for international aerospace and defence company Cobham where he was involved in the system design of new air interface protocols. His experience also covers 2G/3G communications infrastructure having worked for 3 Mobile during the time of the original launch of 3G in the UK. "Systems design has high value and requires in depth knowledge of a large range of technical disciplines," Martin said. "Here at Plextek there are a large number of engineers with this expert knowledge which provides me with a golden opportunity to bring a new business activity to Plextek. By taking the systems view, we believe we can help take problems away from customers and help them to reach their end goal faster, more cost efficiently and with more control."
