New radio telemetry platform from Plextek
Plextek Ltd has developed a new radio telemetry system targeted at efficient automatic remote reading and smart metering applications.
The Cambridge based electronics design consultancy says its solution enables meter manufacturers and reading companies to complement a radio technology without a SIM.
Plextek’s ultra narrow band (unb) technology is optimised for long distance, low power applications where the data transmission rate is low.
Colin Smithers, Plextek’s managing director, explained: “Through remote monitoring and a two way communication between consumers’ utility meters and the operators, real time pricing, load switching and prepay credits can be communicated to the consumer allowing specific use management. Plextek’s unb technology facilitates this exchange of information efficiently and at a low cost.”
