New initiative announced as IBM celebrates 100th birthday

IBM, celebrating its 100th birthday, has announced the launch of a year long initiative in which it is pledging hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to employees for volunteer programmes around the world.

The IBM100 programme will see around 300,000 of its employees giving up more than 2.5million man hours of service. Stanley Litow, one of IBM's vice-presidents, said: "To commemorate our 100 years as a corporation, IBM is setting a record for community service by sharing the best skills of our employees, making a real impact in the communities where we work and live." To coincide with its 100th birthday celebrations, IBM has released a promotional video detailing all of the company's triumphs in no fewer than 100 seconds. The video is here.
