Micron debuts first 1Gbit SPI NOR flash memory

Micron has utilised 65nm process technology to deliver the industry's first 1.8V 1Gbit SPI NOR flash memory.

Said to offer the highest speed quad I/O available, the N25Q series is designed to improve overall system performance in networking, set top top boxes, industrial and computing applications. "In addition to providing the world's highest density, high performance SPI NOR memory, the N25Q family provides package and software compatibility across densities, from 32Mb to 1Gb," said Tom Eby, vp and general manager of Micron's Embedded Solutions group. "When combined with industrial temperature range, 1.8 and 3V power supply options, this range provides an ideal solution for the SPI NOR needs of the embedded market." Sampling now, the 1Gbit, 512Mb and 256Mb devices are part of Micron's Product Longevity Program, which offers a 10 year commitment to provide stable memory architectures for customer designs.
