microLED start up secures £378,000 funding

University of Strathclyde spin out mLED has secured £378,000 funding to help market its microLED technology.

The funding was led by Braveheart Investment Group and will also enable the company to increase its personnel and enhance its intellectual property. The microLED technology developed by mLED is designed to bring an improvement in light intensity over current micro display approaches. It is said to be opening up major new segments within the nascent embedded pico projector market. The company was launched in 2010 with £150,000 seed funding. It is currently developing a roadmap of products aimed at various high volume embedded applications. Geoffrey Thomson, chief executive of Braveheart, said: "We are pleased to support this company which has pioneering technology and an impressive management team."
