‘Lowest voltage’ LDOs offer 140mV dropout

Two low dropout regulators, able to support 2 and 3A loads from a single low voltage supply, have been introduced by UK firm Exar.

The XRP6274 and XRP6275 have a maximum dropout voltage of 140mV and can operate industry standard low voltage rails between 1.1 and 2.5V.

Typical applications include communications, enterprise solutions, industrial systems and space constrained consumer devices.

The LDOs use a single supply and help to reduce board layout complexity by avoiding the need to route a secondary bias rail to the LDO.

Start up is guaranteed from an input voltage of 1.045V.
