Lasers go green

POWERLASE has launched the Starlase 100G and 200G green lasers, targeted at such applications as solar cell processing and OLED flat panel display manufacture.

The lasers are said to be suited to polysilicon annealing (also known as green laser annealing), a process used in OLED manufacture. The lasers are also suited to processing hard materials such as polycrystalline diamond. With high average powers of 100W and 200W respectively at 532 nm, the lasers boast nanosecond duration pulses. The 200G contains two independently controllable oscillators that can be triggered to tailor the profile of the output pulses, useful in applications such as polysilicon annealing where longer pulse durations are required for long crystal growth.
