The Internet of Things Security Foundation has expanded its Executive Steering Board and appointed Professor Paul Dorey as its new chair. Meanwhile, Dr Stephen Pattison – ARM’s VP of public affairs – joins the steering board.

Prof Dorey said: “I am honoured to take over as the new chair and to help IoTSF pursue its cybersecurity mission to make it safe to connect.”

A director of cybersecurity strategy firm CSO Confidential and a Visiting Professor at Royal Holloway University of London, Prof Dorey has spent more than 30 years in risk management and information security and was the founder chairman of the Institute of Information Security Professionals.

Discussing outgoing chair Professor John Haine, Prof Dorey noted: “I’d like to thank John for overseeing the launch and development of the initiative. Under his leadership, the Foundation has established its mission, accrued an active membership and produced its first set of industry strength guidance materials.”

The IoTSF’s mission is to help secure the IoT in order to aid its adoption and maximise its benefits. IoTSF is looking to achieve this by promoting the values of a security first approach, fitness for purpose and resilience through operating life.
